HOW TO APPLY

BOOK AN APPOINTMENT ON LINE

Now that you have gathered all the required items (forms, photographs, supporting documents, fees…) and that your application is ready, you are invited to book an appointment.

It is mandatory to book an appointment to submit your application at the VFS Application Centre:

You can schedule for appointment either online click here , or by telephone (+225 20 00 48 76).

The Resident card Application center is open to submit an application, from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 14:00.

Kindly take a print of your appointment confirmation letter to be presented at the entrance of the Application Centre.

Going to the Resident Card Application center

You must arrive at the Resident Card Application center about 15 minutes before the time of your appointment to go through security checks.

Submission in person / Personal appearance:

  • children below 16 years old must be present for the application process
  • Only resident card applicants are allowed to enter the resident card Application Centre. No visitor is allowed to come in, except those accompanying children under 18 years-of-age or with prior approval from the competent authority .

Do not forget to bring along with you:

  • The appointment confirmation letter (to be printed);
  • Your application, including all the required documents, sorted out in the order of the checklist of required documents;
  • The means of payment for your application submission.

PROCEDURE IN THE RESIDENT CARD APPLICATION CENTER

Security

At the entrance of the resident card center, the security guards must verify:

  • your appointment confirmation letter
  • You passport, which details should conform with those of your letter
  • A token number will then be given to you

Anyone entering the Application Center is subject to security check

Waiting Area

Upon arrival at the waiting area, you must wait to be called with that token number.

In the Application Center, VFS offers optional services in the waiting area, subject to an additional fee ( photograph, photocopies). Please click here for more information.

Submission counters

  • At the submission counter, a VFS officer checks if the contents of your application corresponds to the required list of documents provided by the National Identification Office;
  • VFS officers are not allowed to express an opinion on the quality of the file, nor on the decision to be taken by the N.I.O. authority;
  • If the content of your application does not match with the list of documents (missing documents), you can decide not to submit your application, leave the Application Centre to complete your application, and return another day, after booking another appointment. If you do not submit your application, you pay no service charge.
  • Submitting a complete file does not necessarily mean that the competent authority will grant you the requested resident card.

Courier Service

The VFS employee at the counter will ask you how you wish to retrieve your resident card

  • Either yourself or through another person (see "step 3: I Collect My Resident Card" which specifies under what conditions a representative may retrieve your resident card on your behalf;
  • Or by courier service : in this case, you will be charged an additional amount.

After verification of your application and your choice for retrieval, you will be invited to proceed to the cashier counter for payment.

Payment of Fees

At the cashier counter:

  • You will be asked to pay the tax pertaiing to the resident card fee and the service fees; and when applicable the optional service fees
  • You will be given a receipt:
  • You must keep this receipt for the retrieval of your resident card after your application has been processed by the N.I.O. Authority.

Biometrics

After paying the service fees, you proceed to the biometric booths. Your picture will be taken, and your fingerprints will be collected.

APPLICATION RECEIPT

The submission and the collection of the card application receipt is now done at the resident card application center, Located behind the POLICE STATION 12éme Arrondissement

NOTA BENE: all persons having an appointment from 01 March 2018 must imperatively apply for the photo receipt when submitting the application for their resident card.

The required documents

  1. The copy of the receipt
  2. The copy of the temporary residence permit
  3. The copy of the form receipt
  4. The copy of passport
  5. Two photos

02:00 to 04:00 pm
except on public holidays
